Paperbark trees, 2005
These Paperbark trees (Melaleuca sp.) were originally in the lawn; soil was later piled up around the trunks when the planters were constructed. Raised flower beds such as these around trees cause rot and disease because of a change in soil level (grade), water hitting the trunk and root smothering. |
